Lynne Buchanan earned her BFA in Drawing and Painting. Buchanan taught art before eventually moving to a career as a full-time artist.
Buchanan paints non-objective compositions with a focus on implied texture and color. Mark-making is a major component of her process. Scraping, scribbling, covering, uncovering, building and exposing layers of paint lead to Buchanan's finished works. She uses these marks to create conversations in her art as she explores the process and experiences the joy of where the piece leads her. Buchanan's hope is that the viewer joins the conversation and connects with that joy. Buchanan lives and creates her art in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
My work is driven by curiosity and the search to balance visual memories with new visual experiences. I find abstract art to be an elusive relationship of challenges and rewards. My intent is that the paintings I create convey these challenges and rewards.
