Join The Loft as we debut our newest exhibition, WHIMSY, to the Marietta Arts Community and beyond. This month, The Loft is highlighting the abstract works of resident artist Fran Scher, who will be debuting a dozen new works for this exhibition.
Fran Scher on her art: “ I approach my work with spirit, joy and playfulness. Nothing is predetermined, as if I just decided to paint on a whim!”

Our show opens to the public Friday, November 4 2022 from 5-9pm, as part of the popular Marietta Square First Friday Art Walk. The show will also hang all month long, and be available to view Wednesdays-Saturdays 12-5, and by appointment.*

ABOUT FRAN SCHER:
Although painting in many genres, at present Fran Scher consider herself an abstract artist. Working in acrylics, she often begins the process using graphite to make markings on the canvas, and the adventure begins there. Using layers and layers of paint, the journey is completely intuitive, giving Scher a new-found freedom and methodology within the creative process. Graduating university with a degree in Art Education, Scher taught Art in public schools in New York for a number of years. Scher has studied with many artists and teachers, including Phyllis Franco, Kris, Meadows, Gary Bodner, Alice Williams, Jim Richards and Leslie Newman.
I believe abstract art is much like music. What does it mean? It is all about how it makes you feel that is important, and I hope my work makes the viewer feel good.
What happens on the canvas is an intuitive process for me...never knowing where the adventure will take me.

ABOUT FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK:
Enjoy an evening of live music, performance and local art as you shop, dine, and experience all The Marietta Square has to offer. Art Walk is a free self-guided walking tour of the Marietta Square’s galleries, museums, cultural venues, restaurants and businesses on the 1st Friday of each month from 5pm to 9pm. During Art Walk, participating venues host local artists outside their storefronts.
